I offer 2 different types of portraits

On Canvas                                On 300lb Water Color Paper

 8”x10”, 11”x14” or 16”x20”     5”x7” or 8”x10"

Steps:

1. Email me at barb@barbkowalik.com to discuss my availability and your ideas. You may then decide to talk over the phone or meet with me to discuss your ideas. You can send me photos or other source material as reference for the picture. I also likes to know something about your friend’s personality as we are working together to create your portrait.

2. I then create a “mock up” of how I think the picture should look. You can then decide if this is what you want. Your input is greatly appreciated, after all, this is your painting!

3. I then paint the picture according to the accepted sketch. I will email you photos of the picture at key stages in its development, so you can see how it is developing and give feedback on anything you would like changed.

4. When it is finished, I will contact you to organize delivery.

Photos of Pets & Animals for Commissions

I prefer to paint pets and animals from photos, rather than from a live sitting. To create a good likeness, I need photos that show the animal's coat and eye color, the posture required for the commission, and gives good detail of the animal's face in the expression required for the portrait. This often means clients provide several photographs to work from. However, in some situations this may not be possible.

Please note -- a 50% deposit is required before the painting is actually started.
