Peacock Bead Embroidery

This was supposed to be a panel on a pillow, but at the Calyx pre-show meeting, it was decided (by the other artists) that these were too intricate and beautiful and should be framed.

Because of its gorgeous appearance, the peacock has long been famous outside of its native countries of Southern Asia and Malaysia, and was kept for centuries by people first in China and then in Europe.

This piece contains metal and glass beads and is really quite heavy. It took over 100 hours to bead.
